James Willstrop & Emily Whitlock to lead strong England representation at AJ Bell ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships

James Willstrop and Emily Whitlock will head a strong English contingent at the forthcoming AJ Bell ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships to be staged at the David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham from the 24th to 27th August.

Former World No.1 James Willstrop will be joined by fellow Englishmen Declan James, Josh Masters, Charlie Lee and Patrick Rooney whilst World No.13 Emily Whitlock will compete alongside compatriots Millie Tomlinson and leading junior Lucy Turmel in Europe’s most prestigious individual squash championships.

“England will be represented at this year’s championships by a very strong group of players with experience mixed with youth in equal measure,” said England National Coach David Campion.

“Whilst James and Emily will of course be leading contenders for the respective men’s and women’s titles, with some of our top women players already committed to competing at the China Open the event will offer invaluable ‘big tournament’ experience for our younger English players which will include Lucy Turmel who is currently representing England at World Junior Championships in New Zealand.

Hosted on behalf of the European Squash Federation in partnership with England Squash and University of Nottingham Sport, this year’s AJ Bell European Individual Closed Squash Championships will mark the first occasion that the event has been staged in the British Isles.

The AJ Bell ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships will see Europe’s top ranked players battle it out for Europe’s most prestigious individual title.
