Badminton Star Nathan Robertson Announces iSPORTmanagement Partnership

Although remaining committed to his own playing career, Robertson will head up the new business enterprise as a joint venture within iSPORTmanagement, building strong relationships with leading players, brands and governing bodies as well as providing overall advice and management in all aspects of the sport.
"Nathan Robertson has an unrivalled profile within English badminton and is one of the most respected players currently competing on the World Tour,” said internationalSPORTgroup Chief Executive Officer Paul Walters. “We are delighted to be partnering with him in this exciting new venture and welcome him 'in-house' to provide unrivalled expertise and to build our profile and expand our status in badminton.
"internationalSPORTgroup has always prided itself on being innovative within all areas of sports management and we look forward to working closely with Nathan in this latest initiative to grow our success in badminton," concluded Walters, whose company publishes International Badminton Magazine, the UK’s leading badminton publication.
iSPORTmanagement services will include all ‘off-court’ business and marketing activities, including contract/endorsement negotiation and management, career planning, financial planning, marketing and promotions, personal appearances and public relations.
As well as managing the company’s roster of international players, Robertson’s role will also include identifying new badminton talent and offering support and guidance to the game’s leading junior players to help each aspiring champion maximise their potential on and off the court.
Nathan Robertson added: "Although I remain 100% committed to my own playing career, I am very excited at the prospect of being involved in a new area of the sport which I hope will eventually extend my involvement in badminton when the time does eventually come to hang up my racket.
"internationalSPORTgroup are a dynamic company and their player management division iSPORTmanagement have quickly established a proven track record within squash where they manage many of the leading players including England’s World No.1 Nick Matthew.
“Our plan is to create the sense of a team for our players by offering an unrivalled level of support and badminton expertise. I'm looking forward to having an active role day-to-day and to helping develop new areas for the company as well as expanding existing relationships. It’s a great opportunity to add my own influence and signature to company’s badminton strategy and involvement," concluded the badminton star who in September will compete with partners Anthony Clark and Jenny Wallwork in the Commonwealth Games in India.
Born in Nottingham in England, Nathan excelled at all sports when he was a child and took up badminton aged just 5. After turning professional at the age of just 16 in 1993, he made rapid progress on the international circuit, earning 100 caps for England and winning gold at the 2006 World Championships in Madrid as well as over 10 Grand Prix/Super Series titles including the prestigious All England, Malaysian Open, Singapore Open and China Open.
In addition to his playing commitments which will increasingly focus on the London 2012 Olympics, the England star will also continue to conduct at least 20 on-court Badminton Masterclasses each year throughout the UK alongside Gail Emms and Strength and Conditioning Coach Andy Allford.
