But hopes of meeting Robin Middleton and Mariana Agathangelou in the final were dashed when the England pair fell 21-12 21-16 to Yohan Hadikusumo Wiramata and Ying Suet Tse of Indonesia.
Victory in the final tomorrow would give Blair and Bankier a real boost going into next week's Yonex All England 100th Championships at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
