Biography

Adrian Grant has been one of England's most industrious performers on the PSA Tour - and in March 2007 won the COAS International in Pakistan to secure his 13th Tour title since 1999, thus drawing level with Bradley Ball as the current touring Englishman with the most PSA wins.

Following a distinguished career as a junior, Grant quickly made his mark on the international squash circuit as a senior.

British National Champion at both U14 and U16 age groups, he went on to be crowned European Junior Champion in 1999. He was also a key player in England’s 1996 & 1998 World and European Junior Championship-winning teams.

The London-born left-hander made his breakthrough on the PSA Tour in May 1999 - a month after lifting the European Junior title - when he won the Nova Friburgo Open in Brazil.

He enjoyed a bumper year in 2002 when he won three PSA titles – the Dutch Open, European Open and Odense Open in Denmark.

But a move north, to Halifax in Yorkshire, to work with England coach David Campion paid significant dividends in 2004 when he leapt from 22 in the world rankings in January to a career-high No12 by December.

After winning the 2004 COAS International in Pakistan, where he was the sixth seed, Grant was selected to make his senior team debut in the European Championships in France – where he became the first black player ever to represent England.

He went on to establish an impressive sequence of Pakistan triumphs, following the 2004 COAS International success by claiming the CAS International crown the following year, then in September 2006 the CNS International trophy in Karachi. Back in Islamabad six months later, Grant beat long-time Malaysian rival Ong Beng Hee to clinch his second COAS International title, and his fourth in Pakistan.

But it was in 2006 that Grant achieved his best single success on the Tour, first reaching the Virginia Pro Championship final in the USA in February, then in July winning the $30,000 Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur after upsetting top seed and former champion Mohd Azlan Iskandar in the semi-finals.
