England's Olivier Holland claimed the U19 title in the French Junior Open Championships against expectation after an upset over the top seed in the long-established European Squash Federation Junior Circuit event in Wambrechies, France.
It was a victory over men's favourite Tom de Mulder in the semi-finals that took 17-year-old Holland to the event's first ever all-English men's final. The 3/4 seed's opponent was Richie Fallows, a 9/16 seed who had progressed three rounds beyond his seeding prediction - and who had ousted second-seeded compatriot Tom Ford in the semi-finals.
But Nottingham-based Holland became the first English winner of the title for four years when he defeated 16-year-old Fallows, from Essex, 11-8, 11-9, 11-1.
